Covid-19: First 'Oxygen Express' train leave from Mumbai region to Vizag

  The first ' Oxygen Express ' departed from Central Railway's Kalamboli yard on Monday evening to ferry liquid oxygen for Maharashtra from Vishakhapatnam steel plant in Andhra Pradesh amid the worsening COVID-19 situation . In a statement, the ministry of railways informed that the Mumbai Division built a ramp overnight within 24 hours at Kalamboli goods yard to facilitate loading/unloading of tankers in/from flat wagons. "The Ro-Ro (roll-on, roll-off) service with seven empty tankers departed from Kalamboli goods yard for Visakhapatnam steel plant siding at 8.05 pm on Monday." This train will move via Vasai Road, Jalgaon, Nagpur, Raipur Junction to Visakhapatnam steel plant siding in ECoR zone where it will be loaded with Liquid Medical Oxygen. No new Covid case in Arunachal Pradesh; 19,142 frontline workers inoculated

  Arunachal Pradesh did not report any COVID-19 case on Monday, with the tally remaining unchanged at 16,830, a health department official said. As many as 16,767 people have recuperated from the disease so far, while 56 people have succumbed to the infection, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Lobsang Jampa said. The northeastern state currently has seven active cases, he said. Altogether, 3,95,994 samples have been examined in the state, including 199 on Sunday. The recovery rate in the state has touched 99.62 per cent, while the positivity ratio stands at 0.04 per cent and the fatality rate at 0.33 per cent, the SSO added. Meanwhile, State Immunization Officer (SIO) Dimong Padung said that 19,142 health workers have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine so far. Read More

Vizag gas leak: NGT takes suo motu cognisance, to hear matter today

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Thursday took suo motu cognisance on Visakhapatnam gas leak incident and decided to hear the matter on Friday. The matter titled "In re: Gas Leak at LG Polymers Chemical Plant in RR Venkatapuram Village Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh" will be heard by a bench headed by NGT's chairman AK Goel. Earlier today, NGO CWEL Foundation founder Banu Bansal moved a petition seeking directions by the NGT for a judicial probe into the Visakhapatnam gas leak incident, in which at least 11 people have lost their lives. The NGO sought directions to constitute a high-level committee headed by a retired Justice and officers not below the rank of joint secretary to prove the gas leakage incident. Read More

Covid-19: 17 new cases in Andhra Pradesh, 13 traced to Nizamuddin meet

A day after the Telangana government announced the death of 6 coronavirus patients from the state - all linked to Nizamuddin visit in Delhi, 17 new positive cases were registered on Tuesday. Thirteen of the new cases have been traced back to the religious congregation at the Markaz Tablighi Jamaat. With the additional 17 new cases in a single day, the total number of confirmed coronavirus patients in Andhra Pradesh has jumped to 40, spread across nine out of the thirteen districts in the state. Prakasham and Guntur districts have registered the largest number of 11 and 9 coronavirus cases respectively. It may be noted that most of many of those who attended the Markaz religious congregation in Nizamuddin have either tested positive or are being tracked and kept in quarantine in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) on October 22, 2019, released the counselling schedule for AP LAWCET 2019 . The Andhra Pradesh Common Law Entrance test is conducted to offer 3 years and 5 years of LLB course. The counselling is slated to begin from October 28, 2019, and go on until November 1, 2019. AP LAWCET 2019 seat allotment will be released on November 3, 2019. Candidates who cleared the law entrance exams by APSCHE have to appear for the counselling rounds according to the schedule for their ranks. Andhra University starts APRCET 2019 application process on sche.ap.gov.in

APRCET 2019: The Andhra University has started the online application process to conduct the Andhra Pradesh Research Common Entrance Test (APRCET) for the academic year 2019-20 on behalf of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). The varsity had released a formal notification for the APRCET 2019 on September 11, 2019. Candidates can apply for the APRCET examination 2019 on the official website sche.ap.gov.in by paying a registration fee of Rs 1,300. This state-level research entrance examination is held for admission to PhD and M Phil programmes. The APRCET will be conducted online from November 8 to 12 across 10 cities this year. Cyclone Fani killed 64 people, affected 140,000 hectare crop area: Govt

As many as 64 people had died and over 140,000 hectare crop area affected due to cyclone Fani in Odisha, the Home Ministry said on Tuesday. Cyclone Fani affected three states -- Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. In Odisha, 64 lives were lost, 556,000 houses and huts were damaged, 6,281 cattle were lost, 148,663 hectare of crop land affected and 6,416 boats and 8,828 nets were damaged, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai told Lok Sabha in a written reply. "In addition, infrastructure like roads, power, railway, telecommunications etc. were also damaged in Odisha," he said. There was no loss of human lives in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. A total of 222 houses/huts were damaged, 28 cattle were lost and 1,365 hectare crop area was damaged in Andhra Pradesh, he said. Cyclone 'Titli' turns into severe storm, approaches Odisha, Andhra coast

Cyclone ' Titli ' over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a severe cyclonic storm Wednesday and is moving towards the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast, triggering rainfall in several parts of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The cyclonic storm is likely to make a landfall between Gopalpur in Odisha and Kalingapatanam in Andhra Pradesh early Thursday morning at a wind speed of 145 kmph, it said. "Titli moved with a speed of about 10 kmph and intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and lay centred over the west-central Bay of Bengal, about 370 km south-southeast of Gopalpur in Odisha," the IMD said in a bulletin. It is very likely to intensify further into a very severe cyclonic storm during the next 18 hours. Andhra Pradesh govt on recruitment drive; nearly 19,000 job vacancies

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to recruit nearly 19,000 personnel to fill up existing vacant posts in various departments and the state secretariat, according to an official order. "Based on the proposals received from all the heads of departments and the secretariat departments, the government after careful examination, hereby accord permission for direct recruitment to fill in a total 18,450 vacancies in different categories," the Andhra Pradesh government said in the order. The state government will fill up 182 posts in Group-I category, 337 posts in Group-II, 1,670 posts in Group-III, 3,000 posts in Police Executive, 1,604 posts in medical and 1,657 other posts, it said.
