Walmart, Flipkart, PhonePe announces support for India's pandemic battle

Lava debuts e-Education tablet series, launches 3 Flipkart-exclusive models

  Indian electronics maker Lava on Friday launched the e-Education range of tablets in India, exclusively on the home-grown e-commerce platform Flipkart. Priced between Rs 9,000 – Rs 15,000, the Lava e-Education series debuts with three tablets -- Magnum XL , Aura and Ivory – each of a different screen size. Designed for education purposes, the tablets are touted to sport big screens, big capacity batteries and enhance audio. The top-end model in the series is the Lava Magnum XL. It sports a 10.1-inch IPS screen of HD resolutions and 390 nits peak brightness. Powered by MediaTek quad-core processor, the tablet comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB on-board storage. Samsung to launch Galaxy F62 with Exynos 9825 chip in India on Feb 15

  Samsung will launch its next mid-segment smartphone Galaxy F62 on February 15, according to details posted on the ecommerce platform Flipkart. Galaxy F62 will come with Samsung's flagship Exynos 9825 processor manufactured using a 7-nanometer process technology, making it the fastest Galaxy device in the under Rs 25,000 price segment with this flagship mobile chip. The Geekbench 5 score of the flagship Exynos 9825 processor is 2400, while the GFXBench 5 score is 68. Flipkart has also created a microsite on Galaxy F62, with details such as the presence of a quad camera and Infinity O display on Galaxy F62.   E-commerce giant Flipkart said on Tuesday that it will help generate 70,000 direct and lakhs of indirect seasonal jobs through its Big Billion Days (BBD) festival shopping event. The shopping event would create direct job opportunities across the Walmart-owned company’s supply chain, that includes delivery executives, pickers, packers and sorters. Flipkart starts part payment method to reduce cancellations, order returns

Flipkart has launched a new payment method that lets customers pay some amount for a product and the balance on delivery, aiming to reduce returns and cancellations. The Walmart-owned e-commerce giant, in an email to sellers, said ‘Part-Payment’ would encourage pre-paid transactions. Customers can pay the remaining amount in cash when a product is delivered or either by online transaction. The rate card will remain the same for 'part payment' orders. E-commerce websites allow customers pre-paid, post-paid (cash on delivery) or EMI (equated monthly instalment) as options to purchase products. Most customers choose cash on delivery (CoD), which results in higher units or GMV (gross merchandise value) but risks companies a higher risk of cancellations. Flipkart told sellers ‘Part-Payment’ would help them get higher GMV growth and reduce cancellations. Online retailer Flipkart said it has introduced ‘voice assistant’ capability on its platform, to make consumers’ e-commerce journey simpler and more natural. Introduced in Flipkart’s grocery store, Supermart, the ‘voice assistant’ will enable consumers to discover and buy products easily using voice commands in multiple languages, starting with Hindi and English. The voice-first conversational AI platform has been built by Flipkart’s in-house technology team with solutions for speech recognition, natural language understanding, machine translation, and text-to-speech for Indian languages. 21-day lockdown: E-commerce firms set to resume work after police assurance

Walmart-owned Flipkart said on Wednesday it would resume services and Amazon said it was working with the government to enable its deliveries after state governments reached out to the firms, which had temporarily stopped accepting new orders amid reports of police high-handedness. The Delhi police issued a statement saying they were proactively engaging with e-commerce portals and were issuing passes to ensure agents were able to commute seamlessly and deliver essential goods to residents during the 21-day lockdown. The Bengaluru police, too, came out with guidelines for issuing curfew passes. Following this, Flipkart Chief Executive Officer Kalyan Krishnamurthy said, “We have been assured of the safe and smooth passage of our supply chain and delivery executives by local law enforcement authorities and are resuming our grocery and essentials services later today (Wednesday).” Read More

VSC, a new payment solution now available on Flipkart platform, will enable the e-commerce platform to deploy India’s first in-app device-based network authentication solution. This solution will eliminate the need for ‘one time passwords’ (OTP) for transactions up to Rs. 2,000, while also ensuring a completely secure payment experience. Named Nokia Smart TV , it is a Nokia-branded television that will be manufactured and serviced by Flipkart and its affiliate groups.
