Google, Microsoft and Qualcomm protest Nvidia's acquisition of Arm

  Some of the world’s largest technology companies are complaining to US antitrust regulators about Nvidia Corp’s acquisition of Arm because the deal will harm competition in an area of the industry that is vital to their businesses. Alphabet Inc’s Google, Microsoft Corp. and Qualcomm Inc. are among companies worried about the $40 billion deal and are urging antitrust officials to intervene, said people familiar with the process who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorised to speak publicly. At least one of the companies wants the deal killed. Nvidia shares fell as much as 3.1 per cent in New York trading on Friday. The acquisition would give Nvidia control over a critical supplier that licenses essential chip technology to the likes of Apple, Intel, Samsung Electronics, Amazon.com and China’s Huawei. CES 2021: Dell updates Alienware gaming laptops with Nvidia's RTX 3000 GPUs

  PC giant Dell on Wednesday refreshed its Alienware m15 and m17 R4 gaming laptop range with the newly-launched Nvidia GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021. The updated m15 and m17 will be on sale starting January 26 in the US for $2,149.99. "Both m15/m17 laptops are available in colours Lunar Light and Dark Side of the Moon, with a new matte finish front panel. And if you are exporting the experience to a gaming TV or big format display (like the monstrous Alienware 55 OLED), you will get even smoother output with a newly upgraded HDMI 2.1 connection capable of delivering 4K resolutions at 120Hz," the company said in a statement. CES 2021: Nvidia launches GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs for notebooks

  Nvidia has announced their GeForce RTX 30 series flagship graphics processors for laptops at the CES 2021. The new series includes the RTX 3060, RTX 3070, and the RTX 3080, all backed by a new Max-Q design to deliver optimal power and performance for notebooks. Each of the cards brings a performance upgrade, and the 3080 is the fastest. Nvidia said these will be the world's fastest laptops, promising over 100 frames per second at 1440p with RTX on for "popular graphics-intensive games". The new GeForce RTX 3060 is claimed to deliver 90fps on the latest games with ultra settings at 1080p resolution on laptops that will have a starting price of $999. According to Nvidia, the new RTX 3070 laptops should be up to 50 per cent faster than the RTX 2070 and deliver around 90 frames per second at Ultra settings and 1440p, starting from $1,299. According to these company, the ROG Swift 360Hz can put out a whopping 50 per cent more frames every second - supplying esports and competitive gamers with the edge they need to win.
