Google releases Chrome update without the support for Adobe Flash

Image
Google has released Chrome 88 as the latest stable version of their cross-platform web browser without any support for Adobe Flash Player. Flash reached its official end of life on December 31, when Adobe officially stopped supporting the software. On January 12, Adobe also began blocking content from playing inside Flash. Apple and Mozilla have also stopped supporting Flash, and Microsoft is scheduled to end support later this month, reports ZDNet. According to web technology survey site W3Techs, only 2.2 per cent of today's websites use Flash code, a number that has plummeted from a 28.5 per cent figure recorded at the start of 2011. First announced in July 2017, Adobe had said to stop updating and distributing Flash Player after December 31, 2020 due to the diminished usage of the technology and the availability of better, more secure options such as HTML5, WebGL and WebAssembly.   Chrome OS is reportedly getting a dark mode which has been in high demand for its benefits on eye strain and general readability. Spotted in Google's experimental Canary channel, Android Central reported that the Canary version of Chrome OS contains an experimental version of Chrome OS's dark mode. "It may only be accessed via Google's "bleeding edge" developer mode of the browser, but that could indicate that it's being readied for a wider rollout soon," the report said on Sunday. There are currently some bugs within the dark mode setting as it is still being tested. Dark mode does seem to apply across the user interface and not just simply appear as darker backgrounds. Google turns 20: How search engine company turned into technology behemoth

Image
Back in 1998, two PhD students from Stanford University launched a new search engine with a bold mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. 20 years since then, there has been no looking back and two tech nerds, Larry Page and Sergey Brin began their journey to change the internet. According to Wikipedia, Page and Brin originally nicknamed their new search engine "BackRub", because the system checked backlinks to estimate the importance of a site. Eventually, they changed the name to Google - the name originated from a misspelling of the word "googol" - the number 1 followed by 100 zeros, which was picked to signify that the search engine was intended to provide large quantities of information. As Google turns 20 today, let's look back at what Google has been up to since 1998, and where they are headed next Google was launched in September 1998 in a garage rented in the Northern California cit...
