Goa considering night curfew in view of tourist surge on New Year's Eve

  Anticipating a surge in tourists during and after New Year , the Goa government is considering imposing a night curfew on the lines of the one imposed in the national capital and in Karnataka, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Thursday. "Spoke to the Hon'ble CM on imposing night curfew in the state on lines of the state of Delhi & Karnataka. The file is already in process. Strict SOPs is the need of the hour as Goa is a tourist state," Rane said via his official Facebook account. Goa has witnessed a surge in the tourist arrivals over the last few weeks, which peaked during the festive season of Christmas celebrations in the state. Restrictions in place for New Year celebrations: What's allowed, what's not

  The Delhi government has imposed a night curfew on December 31 and January 1 from 11 pm to 6 am to avoid large gathering during New Year celebrations . In Delhi, not more than 5 people will be allowed to assemble at public places during night curfew to avoid large gatherings. However, there will be no restriction on interstate movement of people and goods during night curfew in Delhi. The move comes after Centre asked to impose restrictions on New year celebrations after assessing the local situation, though the final decision has been left to them. Maharashtra government has announced an extension of lockdown in the state till 31st January next year. The Uddhav government had earlier imposed a night curfew in all the municipal areas of the state. The curfew is in place from 11 pm to 6 am and will remain in force till 5th January. Read More

Woman carries dying baby to term to donate her organs

Krysta Davis was 18 weeks pregnant when she was told that the baby she was carrying had an abnormality. Her to-be-born daughter Rylei Arcadia Diane Lovett was diagnosed with anencephaly, a rare condition in which an infant is missing parts of the brain or skull. Doctors gave 23-year-old Davis and her boyfriend Derek Lovett the news that Rylei would not live for more than 30 minutes after birth. Speaking to People magazine, Krysta said that it was definitely "shocking." Doctors gave Davis two options: induce labour immediately or carry the baby to term and donate the child's organs . "[The doctor] said babies with anencephaly don't tend to survive birth let alone cord-cutting. There was no outcome where she would be able to survive on her own for very long if at all," she said, adding, "We decided that even if we couldn't bring our daughter home, no mother would have to go through what we were going to go through."
