Teens dealing with stress positively have a strong immune system

Turns out, teenagers dealing with stress because of their families may affect certain processes in the body, including blood pressure and the immune system . The researchers at the Penn State explored the strategies adolescents used to deal with chronic family stress and their effects on various metabolic and immune processes in the body. Strategies could include cognitive reappraisal -- trying to think of the stressor in a more positive way -- and suppression, or inhibiting the expression of emotions in reaction to a stressor. The team found that when faced with greater chronic family stress, teens, who used cognitive reappraisal, had better metabolic measures. "These changes are not something that will detrimentally impact anyone's health within a week or two, but that over years or decades could make a difference," said Hannah Schreier, a researcher. Priced at Rs 1,999, this Amazon-exclusive fitness band is loaded with health and fitness tracking features. It also has the required hardware to monitor activity, heart rate, blood pressure, SPO2 (oxygen levels in the blood) and sleep. When tracking activities, the band counts the number of steps, distance covered and calories burnt. It supports tracking five fitness activities -- walking, running, cycling, basketball and football. The band is IP67-certified, which makes it water and dust resistant – limited to rain and normal splashes while washing hands. The band’s activity tracking, heart rate and sleep monitoring features work well. It syncs data when paired with a smartphone via RS Care app, which keeps the detailed record of activities, heart rate, sleep and everything else that the band supports.
