OPPO Watch: A decent 'WearOS' experience with premium feel

  Smartphone brand OPPO has finally entered the wearable segment with a smart watch that aims to woo Indian consumers on Android who are looking forward to owning a good-looking smartwatch. The ' OPPO Watch ' is powered by Google WearOS and comes with premium smartwatch features such as heart-rate monitoring and advanced health tracking. The smartwatch comes in 41mm and 46mm variants, priced at Rs 14,990 and Rs 19,990, respectively. The 41mm variant has a 1.6-inch regular AMOLED display with 320x360 pixels resolution and 301ppi pixel density, whereas its 46mm counterpart offers a 1.91-inch flexible dual-curved AMOLED display with 402x476 pixels resolution and 326ppi pixel density. We used the 46mm variant (black colour) for a couple of days and here is what we think about the device. Google Maps returns to Apple Watch after 3 years

  Google Maps for Apple Watch is now available with the latest watchOS update, more than three years after the search giant pulled the app from the device for reasons still unknown. Google Maps for Apple Watch is rolling out with version 5.52 on the App Store, reports 9To5Google. Google first announced that Google Maps would be returning to Apple's wearable in August. There was a Google Maps for Apple Watch app, but Google ended watchOS support in 2017. On the Apple Watch, Google Maps is focused on providing step-by-step directions, as well as estimated arrival times. The app's primary screen shows the "Current trip," while there's a list of "Travel times" below which includes Home, Work, and any other saved shortcuts/destinations. Read More

ECG feature in Apple Watch Series 4 and 5 receives final approval in Japan

  The Apple Watch ECG feature is finally coming to Japan. The ECG app and irregular heart rhythm notifications on the Apple Watch Series 4 and 5 have received domestic approval and certification from Japan's medical authorities. The approval was confirmed by the Japanese Association for the Advancement of Medical Equipment (JAAME) and an imminent update to Apple's watchOS will likely turn on the features for existing Apple Watch owners, reports Mac Rumors. The Ochanomizu Department of Cardiology has begun work on a new Apple Watch outpatient programme that will see the ECG feature used to provide medical data to professionals for assessment. The ECG feature is available on Apple Watch Series 4 and Apple Watch Series 5 devices and allows the wearable to detect whether a user might suffer from atrial fibrillation (AFib). Samsung to make Smart Watches locally, unveils 1st 'made in India' device

Announcing that it will make the entire portfolio of its Smart Watches in India, Samsung India on Thursday launched the first 'Make in India Galaxy Watch Active2 4G (aluminium edition) for Rs 28,490. The Smart Watch will come in three colours - Cloud Silver, Aqua Black and Pink Gold - and will be available starting July 11 across retail stores and leading online portals. Consumers buying Galaxy Watch Active2 4G can avail 10 per cent cashback and six-month, no-cost EMI offers till July 31, the company said in a statement. "The Aluminium edition of Galaxy Watch Active2 4G is our most affordable 4G watch now. With Galaxy Watch Active2 4G, we have also started manufacturing our entire range of 18 smartwatches in India as part of 'Make for India' programme," said Mohandeep Singh, Senior Vice President, Mobile Business, Samsung India.
