NEET 2020, JEE Mains to be held from Sep 1; SC rejects postponement plea

  The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea to postpone the JEE Mains and NEET exams. The plea moved in the apex court had sought that public notices issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct the JEE (Main) April 2020 exam between September 1 and 6 and the NEET on September 13 be quashed and set aside in view of the coronavirus pandemic. The petitioners' had urged the SC to give directions to the Centre to conduct JEE and NEET exams only after normalcy was restored in the country after the Covid-19 crisis. Filed by advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava on behalf of 11 students from 11 states, the plea contended that hundreds of thousands of young students were likely to appear in the JEE (Main) April-2020 and NEET UG-2020 exam in the month of September. CBSE syllabus reduced: List of chapters deleted for classes 9 to 12

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reduced up to 30 per cent of the syllabus for the 2020-21 academic session for classes 9 to 12. The idea is to reduce the course load for studens in the wake of the global coronavirus crisis. According to the updated curriculum, the chapters deleted from the Class 10 syllabus are those dealing with democracy and diversity, gender, religion and caste, popular struggles and movement and challenges to democracy. For Class 11, the deleted portions include the chapters on federalism, citizenship, nationalism, secularism and growth of local governments in India. Similarly, Class 12 students will not be required to study the chapters on India's relations with its neighbours -- Pakistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, the changing nature of India's economic development, social movements in India and demonetisation, among others. Coronavirus: CISCE postpones ICSE, ISC 2020 board exams till March 31

The ICSE 2020 exams for class 10 and ISC 2020 exams for class 12 have been postponed in view of the coronavirus outbreak, according to a notification released by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The revised dates for conduct of the remaining papers will be notified in due course of time, the notice read. This comes a day after the board chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon said the exams would be held as per schedule. On Wednesday, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the National Testing Agency of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and all universities postponed exams until March 31.
