Mona Lisa of Mustangs,' raced in 'Bullitt,' sets auction record

The 1968 Ford Mustang GT driven by Steve McQueen in the legendary chase scene in the movie “Bullitt” sold on Friday for $3.74 million. “ It’s a record auction price for any Mustang ever sold,” said Dana Mecum, the principal of the auction house, Mecum Auctions, that sold the car. “It is the Mona Lisa of Mustangs.” The price was about 25 percent higher than even his pre-sale estimate, Mr. Mecum said, which he had considered somewhat optimistic. The reply from the seller, Sean Kiernan, a Kentucky horse farmer, was even more succinct: “Holy smokes!” His family bought the car in 1974 for $3,500 in response to a classified ad in Road & Track magazine. “This has been in my family for 45 years. It’s only been sold twice before — for $3,500 each time it’s sold. That’s what my dad bought it for, so that’s what we started the auction off at. Yamaha Motors India enters 125cc scooter segment; launches 2 new variants

Yamaha Motor India today announced its entry into the 125cc scooter segment. The company introduced two new scooters in the 125 cc segment - Fascino 125 , Ray ZR 125 . Company also said that it will withdraw its 110cc offering. Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies said that the currenr slowdown is temporary and the industry will bounce back soon. "We are bullish about India," he said. Ravinder Singh, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Planning, Yamaha Motor India says 2019 was a tough year for the industry. Jeep Compass SUV slows down Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' India growth

No further plan yet, FCA India will have to keep riding on this solo product at least till 2020 Companies News : Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) looked set for a growth ride in India going by the response to its locally made Jeep SUV, but that didn’t happen. The Jeep Compass , a premium sports utility vehicle (SUV), connected well with buyers in the fast-expanding segment and the product commanded a waiting period of three months. Then came the slowdown in growth as domestic dispatches of the SUV started tapering. Consider this: FCA, which is riding on this solo product, dispatched 8,033 units of the Jeep Compass to its dealerships in the October-December quarter of 2017. This happened to be a festive period, and the volume was strong — 52 per cent higher than the previous quarter (July-August). However, in the following quarter (January-March, 2018), dispatches came down to 6,219 units. The monthly average of about 2,000 units still looked impressive for a company th...
