Uttarakhand allots Rs 100 Cr for Covid vaccination of people aged 18-44

  Rs 100 crores have been allotted from the Uttarakhand's Chief Minister's relief fund for COVID-19 vaccination of citizens between18-44 years of age in the state, Additional Secretary to the state government Arunendra Singh Chauhan has informed. Chauhan wrote a letter to the new Director-General of Medical Health and Family Welfare and informed about the allotted fund for the vaccination. Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Panwar and Health Secretary Amit Negi held a press conference on Wednesday and informed about the efforts being made by the government to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection in Uttarakhand. The Health Secretary said that more than 7,000 infected persons have been found in the state in the last 24 hours, in view of which the health department has been put on alert mode and it has been said to make reasonable efforts to prevent infection. Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand deferred as Covid-19 spreads in India

  The Chardham Yatra to the four famous Himalayan shrines in Uttarakhand, which was scheduled to begin next month, has been postponed in view of the massive surge in COVID-19 cases. Announcing this here on Thursday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said conducting the yatra amid the raging pandemic is not possible. However, the portals of the four Himalayan temples known as Chardham will open as scheduled, he said. However, they will open only for priests to perform regular prayers and not for devotees, he said. Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are the four famous shrines. Bird flu: Nearly 200 birds found dead in Uttarakhand's Dehradun, Rishikesh

  Amid an avian influenza scare in several states, nearly 200 birds, mostly crows, have been found dead in Uttarakhand's Dehradun and Rishikesh, officials said on Monday. A total of 165 birds were found dead in different parts of Dehradun on Sunday, including 121 crows in the Bhandari Bagh area only. There were 162 crows, two pigeons and an eagle among the dead birds found in Dehradun, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Rajiv Dhiman said. Chief Wildlife Warden JS Suhag said the samples of the dead birds have been sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Bareilly to ascertain the cause of their death. More than 30 birds were found dead at different places in and around Rishikesh, triggering a bird-flu scare in the town. Covid: Christmas, New Year celebrations banned in public places in Dehradun

  The district administration has banned collective celebrations like parties at hotels, bars, restaurants and other public places on Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year to stop the spread of COVID-19 . Any violation of the ban on these dates will be punishable under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Epidemic Diseases Act and other relevant sections of the IPC, said an order issued by DehradunDistrict Magistrate Ashish Shrivastava on Tuesday evening. It is being done as a precautionary measure to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus infection, the order said. The ban will have its effect in Dehradun, Mussoorie and Rishikesh where a large number of tourists come to celebrate Christmas and New Year. Read More

The Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) has released admit cards for the Uttarakhand Teacher Eligibility Test (UTET) 2019 entrance exam. Candidates who applied for the UTET 2019 can download their admit cards from the UBSE official website — ubseonline.uk.gov.in. The UBSE UTET exam 2019 will be held in two parts: UTET 1 will be held on November 6, 2019, from 10 am to 12.30 pm. The UTET 2 will be held in the afternoon session from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. The candidates who get through the Uttarkhand TET 2019 will be awarded a TET Eligibility Certificate which can be further used to apply for the post of teachers in both government and private schools in Uttarakhand.
