Apple readies MacBook Pro, MacBook Air revamps; none with Intel processors

  Apple Inc . is preparing to release several new Mac laptops and desktops with faster processors, new designs and improved connectivity to external devices, accelerating the company’s effort to replace Intel Corp. chips and leapfrog rival PC makers. The overhaul encompasses a broad range of Macs, including Apple’s higher-end laptop, the MacBook Pro ; the laptop aimed at the mass market, the MacBook Air ; and its desktop computers, the Mac Pro, iMac and Mac mini, according to people familiar with the matter. Redesigned MacBook Pros are expected to debut as soon as early this summer, said the people, who requested anonymity to discuss an internal matter, followed by a revamped MacBook Air, a new low-end MacBook Pro and an all-new Mac Pro workstation. The company is also working on a higher-end Mac mini desktop and larger iMac. The macOS Big Sur brings a redesigned user interface with new icons, Safari browser, and some major changes to Messages and Maps applications with emphasis on privacy features. Apple's ARM-based M1 SoC debuts on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini

  Apple Inc on Tuesday introduced its first ARM-based silicon for Mac as it began the process of moving its Mac computers to its own silicon in a bid to reduce its dependence on American chipmaker Intel. Named the M1 system-on-chip (SoC), the custom-designed Apple Silicon will debut on Macbook Air, MacBook Pro (13-inch) and Mac Mini computers to will be available in India starting November 17. The MacBook Air price starts at Rs 92,900 (Rs 83,610 for education); the 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at Rs 1,22,900 (Rs 1,10,610 for education); and the Mac Mini starts at Rs 64,900 (Rs 58,410 for education). Built on a 5nm process, the Apple Silicon M1 SoC boasts 8-core central processing unit (CPU), featuring four high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores. After MacBook Air, Apple likely to upgrade MacBook Pro with better keyboard

Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is reportedly launching a new 13-inch MacBook Pro next month with the codename J223. According to a noted Apple leaker Jon Prosser, Apple will bring out a refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro "next month". The current 13-inch MacBook Pro still uses butterfly keyboards that can suffer from issues such as sticky or unresponsive keys after prolonged use, which prompted Apple to initiate a free repair program worldwide in 2018. Apart from the keyboard, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro is expected to get an upgraded processor in the form of one of Intel's 10th-generation Ice Lake chips, built using a 10-nanometer architecture. Apple on Wednesday unveiled an all-new 16-inch MacBook Pro with up to 80 per cent faster performance for Rs 199,900. Featuring a 16-inch Retina Display, latest 8-core processors, up to 64GB of memory, next-generation graphics with up to 8GB of VRAM and a new advanced thermal design, MacBook Pro is available through Apple Authorised Resellers and will come soon to stores around the world, the company said in a statement. American technology giant Apple has updated its MacBook Pro-series with 8th-Generation and 9th-Generation Intel Core processors. The upgraded MacBook Pro is touted to deliver two times faster performance than the previous generation’s quad-core variant, and up to 40 per cent better performance than the hexa-core variant. The new MacBook Pro continues to come in 13-inch and 15-inch screen variants, priced at Rs 159,900 and Rs 199,900, respectively (for base models). Besides new processors, the MacBook Pro features Apple’s Retina display with 500 nits of brightness, support for the P3 wide colour gamut and True Tone technology.
