Google turns 20: How search engine company turned into technology behemoth

Image

According to Wikipedia, Page and Brin originally nicknamed their new search engine "BackRub", because the system checked backlinks to estimate the importance of a site. Eventually, they changed the name to Google - the name originated from a misspelling of the word "googol" - the number 1 followed by 100 zeros, which was picked to signify that the search engine was intended to provide large quantities of information. As Google turns 20 today, let's look back at what Google has been up to since 1998, and where they are headed next Google was launched in September 1998 in a garage rented in the Northern California cit...

Imagine, a tablet display you can fold up and put in your pocket, a smart watch whose strap is the screen, or a handbag that is also a monitor and keyboard. Nokia originally called this proposed technology “ Morph ” back in 2008 because of the plethora of applications it would make possible. Now it looks like it will become a reality. After nearly two decades of work, Samsung is rumoured to be getting ready for the launch of the first flexible smartphone. In the first match of the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2018 , Rohit Sharma’s India will take on Masrafe Mortaza-led Bangladesh at Dubai International Stadium in United Arab Emirates. For Bangladesh, it will be back-to-back contest after they played their last league game on Thursday in which they were thrashed by Afghanistan by 137 runs. On the other hand, India are coming into the game with a day's break after they beat arch-rivals Pakistan quite easily in their last league fixture. India and Bangladesh have played 33 ODI matches, of which India has won 27 matches and Bangladesh five. These statistics might look skewed in India's favour and seem to undermine the recent cricket rivalry between the two neighbours. It all started with a no-ball in the ICC World Cup 2015 quarter-finals and spilled over to India's tour of Bangladesh when debutant Mustafizur Rahman ripped through India’s batting line-up. The rivalry between the two cricket fanatic nations peaked in the 2016 ...
