Covid: 100% rise in recuperations in 25 days; recovery rate spikes to 75.9%

  With a record 66,550 patients recovering from COVID-19 in a day,the total recoveries have surged to 24.04 lakh pushing the recovery rate to 75.92 per cent, while the active cases comprise only 22.24 per centof the total cases, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday. In a testimony of the government's policy of testingaggressively, tracking comprehensively and treating efficiently, the total number of recoveries haveoutpaced the active cases by more than 17 lakh. "The steadily fallingCOVID-19 case fatality rates stands at 1.84 per cent as on date.There has been more than100 per cent increase in the recoveries in the last 25 days," the ministry highlighted. "India's recovery rate amongst the COVID-19 patients has reached75.92 per cent.The recovered patients are 3.41 times the active cases, as on date," it said. Read More

Sushant Singh Rajput case: CBI's record doesn't inspire confidence in probe

  Whenever there is a need for an impartial probe, be it criminal or corruption, there are demands to hand it over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This is because not just people and the government, even the judiciary fear that state investigative agencies may work in the interest of politicians or could botch-up cases due to sheer incompetence. A similar demand was recently made in Sushant Singh Rajput death case . Investigations by CBI, a central agency, which is supposedly free from interference of states and their politicians, are expected to be fair, fast and thorough. That is why the Supreme Court ordered the agency to probe Sushant Singh Rajput's death case . However, question remains whether the agency has lived up to expectations. According to data, at least 65 per cent of the cases which have been probed by the federal agency between 2015 and 2018 are still awaiting closure. Delhi's coronavirus infection rate below 10%: Health min Satyendar Jain

  The COVID-19 infection rate in the national capital is below 10 per cent, said Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Monday. "The coronavirus infection rate was increasing every day, that is, from 5-10 per cent to 20-30 per cent and had reached 40 per cent in Delhi. But, now it less than 10 per cent," Jain told media persons here. "Although, there is always a difference of 1-1.5 per cent," he added. In the latest update, Jain informed that 1,450 new COVID-19 infected cases have been reported and 1,250 patients have recovered while 16 people have lost their lives due to the virus. On being asked about the rising level of Yamuna river, the Health Minister said, " The water level of Yamuna River recorded at 204 metres in Delhi, which is well below the danger mark." Read More

Maharashtra: One killed, four injured in house collapse in Nagpur

  One person was killed and four others were injured when a nearly 50-year-old dilapidated house collapsed in Maharashtra's Nagpur city early Monday morning, a civic official said. The ground-plus-one-storey house, located at Azad Chowk in Sadar, collapsed around 4.40 am, Nagpur Municipal Corporation's chief fire officer Rajendra Uchke said. Various fire teams from the city rushed to the spot. Five people were pulled out from the debris and rushed to hospital. A 43-year-old man among them was declared brought dead, the official said. The four others, including a senior citizen, received injuries and they were undergoing treatment in hospital, he added. Read More
