Hardik Pandya takes a knee in IPL to support of Black Lives Matter movement

  Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya has become the first player in the ongoing Indian Premier League to take a knee in support of the ' Black Lives Matter ' movement. Pandya's gesture came during the game against Rajasthan Royals here on Sunday. The all-rounder smashed 60 run from just 21 balls. After reaching his half century in the 19th over, he went down on a knee with his right arm raised to show solidarity with the movement against racism. West Indies all-rounder and Mumbai's stand-in skipper Kieron Pollard responded by raising his right fist. After the match Pandya even tweeted a picture of himself with the caption "#BlackLivesMatter". Last week, West Indies Test skipper Jason Holder, who plays for the Sunrisers Hyderbad, had expressed his disappointment over none of the IPL teams taking a knee in solidarity with the movement, which, he felt, went unnoticed in the league. Coronavirus cases in India mount to 7,909,959 with 45,148 new cases

  New coronavirus infections reported in India in a span of 24 hours dropped below 50,000 for the second time this month, while the new fatalities registered during the same period fell under 500 after 108 days,according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday India's COVID-19 caseload mounted to79,09,959 with45,148newinfections being reported in a day. The death toll climbed to 1,19,014 with 480 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed. A totalof 71,37,228 people have recuperated from COVID-19 so far pushing thenational recovery rate to 90.23 per cent while thecasefatality rate hasdropped to 1.50 per cent. The active cases of coronavirus infections remained below 7 lakh for four days in a row. Kapil Dev hospitalised after suffering heart attack, undergoes angioplasty

  India's first World Cup-winning cricket captain Kapil Dev underwent an angioplasty on Friday after complaining of chest pain and is expected to be discharged in the next couple of days, said the hospital where he is admitted. The 61-year-old felt uneasy on Thursday following which he was taken to a hospital here. "Cricketer Kapil Dev came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on 23rd October with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary angioplasty was performed in the middle of night," the hospital stated. "Currently, he is admitted in ICU and under close supervision of Dr Atul Mathur and his team. Kapil Dev is stable now and he is expected to get discharged in a couple of days." Read More  

NEET Counselling 2020: First round from Oct 27; know full schedule, process

  NEET Counselling 2020 : The Medical Council Committee (MCC) has released the schedule for National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test - NEET (UG), 2020 counselling on the official website, mcc.nic.in. The counselling will start on October 27. The Central Board of Secondary Education had announced the result and cut-off of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) 2020, on October 16. The counselling schedule has been released for 15% all India quota (AIQ) and seats offered by Central and Deemed Universities, AIIMS and JIPMER institutes.For state quota seats, NEET counselling 2020 will be held by the respective state authorities separately. Candidates who have scored a minimum of 50th percentage (40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentage for General-PH) will be eligible for NEET 2020 counselling round. Read More

VVIP chopper scam: Accused-turned-approver Rajiv Saxena gets interim bail

  A Delhi court on Friday granted interim bail to accused-turned-approver Rajiv Saxena in the Rs 3,600-crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal scam case being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Special Judge Arvind Kumar granted interim bail to him on the personal bond of Rs 2 lakh and surety of like amount till the next date of hearing. His bail application was vehemently opposed by the probe agency and the matter will now come up on December 11 for arguments on it. On September 19, the agency had filed the supplementary charge sheet against 15 accused, including alleged middleman Christian Michel and Saxena in connection with the case. The court had then taken its cognisance and summoned the accused on October 23. Read More
