Chartered plane crashes in Mumbai's Ghatkopar, fire engines rushed to spot
There are no
reports of any casualty so far, police said
Current Affairs News:
A small
chartered plane crashed in the thickly populated suburb of Ghatkopar in
north-east Mumbai on Thursday, officials said.
Eyewitnesses
said the plane was seen hurtling down and crashed with a deafening roar before
bursting into flames around 1.15 p.m.
There
were no reports of casualties as the crash - the cause of which is not known -
occurred in the premises of a building under construction.
Police,
fire brigade and disaster management teams rushed to the spot, Akhilesh Singh,
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-7) told PTI.
Four
fire engines have reached the spot, a BMC official said.
The
chartered plane does not belong to the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government, as
earlier speculated.
UP
Principal Secretary of Information Avnish Awasthi told news agency ANI that the
plane was sold to Mumbai's UY Aviation after it met with an accident in
Allahabad.
