Technology News: Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, on June 24 launched the
Redmi 6 Pro in its home country. The smartphone is company’s first budget
device with notch-based 19:9 aspect ratio screen. The Redmi 6 Pro marks the
company’s third launch in the Redmi 6-series, after the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A.
The Redmi 6-series is expected to launch in India before September.
In terms of features and specifications, the Redmi 6 Pro
sports a 5.84-inch notch-based screen in 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone is
powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 system-on-chip, the same processor that
powers the Redmi Note 4. The phone comes in three storage and RAM variants –
32GB/3GB, 32GB/4GB and 64GB/4GB. Powering the phone is 4,000 mAh battery.
In terms of imaging, the phone sports 12-megapixel primary camera, paired with
a 5MP camera on the back and a 5MP camera on the front. The rear camera
features are taken from the Redmi Y2, therefore features phase detection
autofocus, auto HDR and artificial intelligence-based portrait and bokeh mode. The
front camera also features auto HDR and supports AI-based portrait mode. It
doubles as face unlock biometric tool, which unlocks the phone by recognising
certain facial features.
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro
in 32GB/3GB, 32GB/4GB and 64GB/4GB storage and RAM configurations cost CNY 999,
CNY 1,199 and CNY 1,299, respectively. Based on current exchange rates, the Redmi 6 Pro price in India is expected to start at Rs 11,000 for the base
model with 32GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM.
