States can't say they won't implement CAA, resolutions 'political': Tharoor

Image
States cannot say they will not implement a new citizenship law and resolutions some legislatures have passed against it are a "political gesture", said Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Thursday. Tharoor's party colleague Kapil Sibal last week said states cannot deny implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), a law passed by Parliament. Sibal later called CAA "unconstitutional", as his statement contradicted the Congress government’s decision in Punjab to pass an Assembly resolution against the law . Tharoor, MP from Thiruvananthapuram, said that in the implementation of the National Population Register (NPR) and the proposed nationwide National Register of Citizens (NCR), the states will have a vital part as it will be their officials who will conduct the exercise because the Centre doesn't have the required manpower. "That's more of a political gesture. The citizenship is given by the federal government only and obviously no st...

Image
By 2024, artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies such as virtual personal assistants and chatbots will replace almost 69 per cent of the manager's workload, predicts research and advisory firm Gartner, Inc. Such technologies are rapidly making headway into the workplace, Gartner said. "The role of manager will see a complete overhaul in the next four years," said Helen Poitevin, research vice- president at Gartner, in a statement. "Currently, managers often need to spend time filling in forms, updating information and approving workflows. By using AI to automate these tasks, they can spend less time managing transactions and can invest more time on learning, performance management and goal setting," she said. AI and emerging technologies will undeniably change the role of the manager and will allow employees to extend their degree of responsibility and influence, without taking on management tasks, Gartner said. Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro leak hints at Snapdragon 865 SoC, Android 10, and more

Image
Xiaomi is likely to bring the K30 Pro with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and 8GB RAM. The Redmi K30 Pro just popped up on Geekbench 5.1 with a Snapdragon 865 and 8GB RAM and posted a score of 900/3300 single and multi-core, which is a healthy increase over the Snapdragon 855 scores in the 500/2200 ballpark. Naturally, the K30 Pro is running Android 10, GSMArena reported on Tuesday. As with last year's K20 series, the Redmi K30 Pro is expected to be a lot like the vanilla K30 smartphone but with some beefed-up specifications. We also expect the price to be higher, but we don't expect it to reach into "normal" flagship territory as far as that goes. Since Redmi has already launched the Redmi K30 and Redmi K30 5G, it's pretty much a given that the upcoming new variant will be called the Redmi K30 Pro, according to Android Authority. Read More
