Coronavirus scare: Class 12 Meghalaya board exams postponed

The ongoing class 12 state board examinations in Meghalaya have been postponed for an indefinite period as a precautionary measure in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic , an official said on Monday. The state government has directed the Meghalaya Board of School Education to postpone remaining examinations until further notice, the official said. The decision was taken in view of safety and security of students, the board's controller of examination T R Laloo said. The examinations were scheduled on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week, Laloo said, adding that spot evaluations have also been postponed. This year, the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations started on March 2, the official said. Read More

Coronavirus: CISCE postpones ICSE, ISC 2020 board exams till March 31

The ICSE 2020 exams for class 10 and ISC 2020 exams for class 12 have been postponed in view of the coronavirus outbreak, according to a notification released by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The revised dates for conduct of the remaining papers will be notified in due course of time, the notice read. This comes a day after the board chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon said the exams would be held as per schedule. On Wednesday, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the National Testing Agency of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and all universities postponed exams until March 31. Maharashtra SSC board exam 2020 begins today: Full time table of 10th exam

Maharashtra SSC exam : More than 1.7 million students from across Maharashtra are expected to appear for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination for class 10 which begin today (March 3). State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) Chairperson Shakuntala Kale had on Monday said that the SSC exam based on the new syllabus would be organised across the nine divisions — Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Konkan, Latur, Aurangabad, Amravati and Kolhapur — between March 3 and 23. A total of 1,765,000 students are expected to appear for the exam. "The students should follow only official schedule of the examination that was published by the state board," Kale added. Exams for Class 12 (HSC) began on February 18, 2020, and will conclude on March 18. Telangana IPE exams: Helpline launched to address students' grievances

A helpline number has been launched for addressing grievances of students appearing for the Intermediate Public Theory Examinations (IPE)-March 2020 in Telangana. A dedicated phone number has also been made available to look into any stress-related issues among students. Chitra Ramachandran, Special Chief Secretary, Higher Education, while addressing the media, said that Stress Release Counselors have also been appointed in the colleges to assist students who are appearing for the exam. "Stress Release Counselors have been appointed in each college. They have been trained adequately and will be available to address any stress-related issues." Delhi violence: CBSE to reschedule exams for students not able to appear

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday said school principals had been requested to provide a list of students who would not be able to appear in the board exams to be conducted till March 7 in the violence-affected areas. For these students, exams would be held at a later date. "Considering the difficult situation that continues with some of the candidates, the CBSE is prepared to hold examinations at a later date for such candidates who would not be able to appear for the examinations up to 7th March," said CBSE in a statement. The Delhi High Court had on Friday said shifting the examination centres at this time was not a viable option and asked Delhi Police to ensure proper security at the centres in violence-hit Northeast district of the national capital. A single-judge Bench of Justice Rajiv Shakdhar had also impleaded the Delhi government as a party to the proceedings and slated the matter for further hearing on March 4. Read More

Microsoft top recruiter with over Rs 1-crore annual package at IITs

With the highest annual package of over $164,000, or Rs 1.17 crore, this year, IT giant Microsoft has continued its streak of emerging as the top recruiter on Day One of final placements at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Older as well as some newer IITs kicked off their first phase of the final placements process in two slots on Sunday. Last year, Microsoft had given the highest international offer of $215,000 (more than Rs 1.54 crore) at multiple IITs. Participating in the first slot of the first day of placements, Microsoft gave the highest number of offers at multiple campuses including IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Guwahati. At IIT Madras, Microsoft gave 20 offers, followed by 11 by Goldman Sachs, nine by Qualcomm, and seven by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). In a relief for Jammu and Kashmir students, the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-Delhi) is reopening the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2020) application process as many were not able to register due to unavailability of internet connectivity. The window for receiving application was open between September 3 and October 5 during which 9,295 candidates from J&K had applied. “As per emails and phone calls received from a few candidates regarding the unavailability of internet connectivity, it seems that a few hundred aspirants of GATE 2020 in J&K might not have been able to apply,” the institute said.
