Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on March 26 announced Rs 1.7 trillion stimulus package to provide relief to the underprivileged, poor and migrant workers affected by a 21-day nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 crisis . Among several other benefits, the FM also announced amendment in the EPFO regulation to allow employees withdraw up to 75 per cent of their corpus as non-refundable advance, or three months' basic salary, whichever is less. Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has declared the EPFO Assistant Result 2019 . The results are for the EPFO Assistant Phase-I (Prelims) exam that was conducted for recruitment to the post of Assistants (Assistants Section Officer). EPFO has released a merit list of candidates who will now have to appear in the Phase-II Examination. Candidates who appeared in the exam can check their results on epfindia.gov.in. EPFO recruitment 2019: Employees Provident Fund Organisation has come out with a notice inviting interested and eligible candidates to apply for 280 vacancies for the post of Assistant section officer. Candidates can apply online from May 30, 2019 to June 25, 2019 through the official website https://www.epfindia.gov.in . EPFO will conduct an online exam for the posts on July 30 and July 31. Good news for salaried employees: EPFO likely to hike rate ahead of polls

In what could bring cheer to 60 million salaried employees, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) may raise interest rates from 8.55 per cent currently. Three officials with knowledge of the matter told Live Mint that if not raised, it will at least be retained at the existing level, making it one of the most rewarding savings scheme. Although the EPFO rate is declared in December every year, there was a slight delay in 2018 as the account audit was still being done. It is now expected to be announced on February 1. There is little scope for reducing the rate and efforts would be made to increase the return, Prabhakar Banasure, member of EPFO’s central board of trustees, told the business daily. The interest rate would be in line with what the government recently announced incentives such as a nearly 50 per cent hike in incentives for frontline health workers, including those working at Integrated Child Development Scheme centres (anganwadis).
