Wing Commander Abhinandan likely to be awarded Vir Chakra on I-Day

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman , who spent some days in Pakistani custody when his MiG-21 was shot down in a dogfight with PAF jets a day after the February 26 Balakot airstrike, will likely be conferred the Vir Chakra on Independence Day, sources said Wednesday. The 36-year-old IAF pilot had suffered injuries while ejecting from his MiG-21 Bison during the aerial combat between Indian and Pakistani air forces on February 27. Varthaman, who became the face of a tense military confrontation between India and Pakistan, is set to fly MiG-21 within a few weeks as a medical board cleared his return to fighter cockpit. Official sources said IAF's Bangaluru-based Institute of Aerospace Medicine has given the go-ahead to Varthaman to fly again following a thorough medical evaluation. Prabhas' 'Saaho' to release on Independence Day

" Baahubali " star Prabhas ' next big screen outing " Saaho " is set to hit the theatres on Independence Day , August 15. The much ambitious multilingual project is being shot in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. It will release in all three languages on the same day. The movie has high-octane action sequences choreographed by international action master Kenny Bates. The film features Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead and also stars Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mandira Bedi, Chunky Pandey, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Murali Sharma among others. Music composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have created the music for the film and Amitabh Bhattacharya has penned the lyrics. A UV Creations production, "Saaho" is produced by Vamsi and Pramod. Independence Day: Centre urges states to discourage use of plastic flags

An advisory issued by Centre said the national flag represents the hopes and aspirations of Indian people and hence occupies a position of honour Current Affairs News : Ahead of the Independence Day , the Union Home Ministry on Monday issued an advisory to all Central, state and Union Territory departments to carry out mass awareness programmers to stop use of national flags made of plastic, and ensure strict compliance of the flag code. The advisory directs the chief secretaries and administrators of all states and union territories as well as secretaries of all ministries and departments of the Central government to spread awareness through advertisements in electronic and print media urging people to use flags made of paper only, a Home Ministry statement said.
