Samsung expands its smartphone line-up in Indian with multiple new launches

  Samsung Electronics has expanded its presence in the Indian smartphone market in the first quarter of the year on the back of multiple new handsets, a report showed Tuesday, as the South Korean tech giant aims to fend off challenges from Chinese players. Samsung represented 20 per cent of the smartphone shipments in India in the first quarter, up from 16 per cent a year earlier, according to market researcher Counterpoint Research. Among the top five brands, Samsung posted the highest on-year growth in smartphone shipments in the first quarter. "Samsung remains the second-largest brand for India's smartphone shipments with 52 percent on-year growth driven by its focus on the budget segment with the new M02 series and multiple other launches," the market researcher said. "It refreshed its A-series with the A32, A52 and A72, and the M-series with the M12. It also launched its latest flagship Galaxy S21 series earlier than its normal launch period." Read

Xiaomi Mi A3 India launch on August 21: Know key features & specifications

Chinese technology company Xiaomi is gearing up to launch in India the third iteration of its Mi A-series smartphone on August 21. Named Xiaomi Mi A3 , this smartphone, based on the Android One platform, was earlier unveiled in Spain on July 17. Compared to predecessor Mi A2, the Mi A3 brings several upgrades like an AMOLED screen with in-display fingerprint sensor, a triple-camera set-up with 48-megapixel primary sensor on the back, glass-metal body, etc. Here is a look at the phone’s key specifications and features: The Xiaomi Mi A3 has a curved glass body with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back, and a metallic chassis sandwiched in between. LG to introduce five devices under India-first W series of smartphones

Korean tech giant LG is betting on new India-first 'W' series of smartphones to woo consumers in the hyper-competitive Indian phone market, and grab double-digit share over the next two years. LG will introduce five devices under its W series , which will be available online in partnership with Amazon.in, as it aims to sell about one million units by December-end. Competing against majors like Xiaomi and Samsung, LG will also bring in smartphones from its global portfolio to the Indian market. "We reached out to our headquarters about a year ago to request them for an India-specific portfolio and after deliberations, they allowed us. So, India is the first country where LG will have its own portfolio of smartphones," LG Electronics India Business Head Mobile Communication Advait Vaidya told PTI. According to the Economic Times report, local production of 6S model started last week at the Bengaluru facility of its Taiwan-based contract manufacturer Wistron. Wistron, which will assemble iPhones in Bengaluru, is one among the few original design manufacturers Apple employs to build its iPhones. The company has previously won contracts abroad to manufacture lower-cost iPhone 5c, 5s, and SE devices, while larger partners such as Foxconn have handled production of flagship iPhone models.
