WhatsApp's new feature will now let you decide who can add you to groups

Image
WhatsApp has announced a new invite system to help you decide who can add you to groups. To enable it, go to Settings in WhatsApp, then tap Account > Privacy > Groups and select one of three options: “Everyone,” “My Contacts,” or “My Contacts Except.” “ My Contacts” means only users you have in your address book can add you to groups and “My Contacts Except” provides additional control for who among your contacts can add you to a group. In these cases, an admin who can’t add you to a group will be prompted to send a private invite through an individual chat, giving you the choice of joining the group. You'll have three days to accept the invite before it expires. With these new features, users will have more control over the group messages they receive. These new privacy settings will begin rolling out to some users starting today and will be available worldwide in the coming days to those using the latest version of WhatsApp," WhatsApp said in a statement.

Part of too many unwanted Whatsapp groups? Now you can control who adds you

Facebook-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp on April 4 introduced a privacy setting for groups on its platform, providing users control on who can add them to groups. WhatsApp had been testing this feature under beta program, and from Wednesday onwards it will roll it out to all users in batches as an app update. Until now, anyone available on WhatsApp had the option to create a group and add anyone from the list of contacts. With the new privacy setting for groups, users will have the option to set the privacy settings to either nobody, my contacts or everyone. Nobody means you will be sent an invite to join a group, but you will not be added until you approve. My contact setting allows people in your WhatsApp contact list to add you in a group. Here are the steps to check or enable the new privacy settings for groups: Step 1: Update the WhatsApp app Step 2: Open the app and go to settings Step 3: In Settings, click on account, then privacy, then groups Ste

In a much-needed update, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will give users the control before being added to a new group. The Group Invitation feature will be available for everyone in future for any iOS beta user that joined the TestFlight beta program in the next iOS update. Currently at the beta level, the feature needs to get many other improvements before it is rolled out for everyone, wabetainfo reported. The WhatsApp update will provide you with three options for the group, depending on your privacy settings: Everyone: You will always be added in groups and won't receive any invites. My Contacts: You will be added only by your contacts and will receive an invite to join a group not in your contact list. Nobody: You cannot be directly added in groups, in any situation, and will receive a request every time. Nobody will be able to add you to groups without your permission, so you can always accept or decline the invitation. When the admin is not able
