Opposition parties back 'Bharat Bandh' on Tuesday; Trinamool opts out

  Cracks have emerged within the opposition ranks as the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday said it will not support the ' Bharat Bandh ' and asked its workers to stay away. The TMC has been at the forefront in opposing the farm laws in Parliament. It has also lent its support to the protests by the farmers but has decided not to go with Tuesday's Bharat Bandh call. Party MP Saugata Roy on Monday said, "TMC stands in solidarity with the farmers, but will not support the Bharat Bandh in West Bengal as it goes against our principles." Earlier, TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee had tweeted, "I am very much concerned about the farmers, their lives and livelihood. GOI must withdraw the anti-farmer bills. CBI vs CBI: Rahul courts arrest after protest outside agency HQ in Delhi

Congress President Rahul Gandhi Friday courted arrest after staging a protest outside the CBI headquarters in New Delhi against the move to divest CBI Director Alok Verma of his powers and send him on leave. Earlier addressing the gathering Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue. He also accused him of destroying institutions including the CBI, the Election Commission and the Enforcement Directorate. Senior Congress leaders, including Ashok Gehlot, Ahmed Patel, Motilal Vora, Veerappa Moily and Anand Sharma, took part in the march that culminated in a demonstration ahead of the CBI headquarters. Loktantrik Janata Dal leader Sharad Yadav, CPI leader D Raja and TMC's Nadimul Haque joined the protest. The Congress' protests in the national capital were replicated in other parts of the country.
