Telangana: Heavy rains kill 15 in Hyderabad; people urged to stay indoors

  Fifteen people have died in Hyderabad in rain related incidents, following incessant rainfall that lashed the city and different parts of Telangana, leading to waterlogging on roads and inundation of some low-lying areas. The deaths were reported since Tuesday night as downpour triggered wall and house collapse in different places here, officials said. The state government has declared a holiday on Wednesday and Thursday for all private institutions, offices, non- essential services within Outer Ring Road here in view of rains. People were advised to stay indoors for the next two days as more rains are expected in the state. Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao and Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav held an emergency meeting with senior officials and reviewed the rescue and relief operations in the city. Amazon Pantry back online, resumes services in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune

Amazon Pantry , the company’s daily essentials store for Prime members, is back online and is accepting orders in a few cities after temporarily shutting down last week due to the lockdown. It is now serviceable in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune for select pincodes. Pantry offers essentials including food, beverages, household supplies, health and beauty products at discounted rates. “We are prioritising deliveries of existing orders. Deliveries of new orders could take 7-10 days,” said the e-commerce company. Amazon Pantry was delivering essentials in over 100 cities across India before suspending services temporarily when the country entered the 21-day lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19. India's first Centre of Excellence for gaming, VFX launched in Hyderabad

IMAGE, India's first Centre of Excellence(CoE) for gaming, VFX, computer vision, and artificial intelligence (AI) was launched in Hyderabad on Monday. This is also the first incubation centre for companies focused on IP in gaming, VFX, AI, computer vision set up by Software Technology Park of India (STPI). At the launch of the facility, STPI-IMAGE signed MoUs with five partners - Telangana VFX, Animation and Gaming Association(TVAGA), Hyderabad Angels, Hyderabad Software Exporters Association (HYSEA), and IIIT-Hyderabad, with an objective to promote start-ups and budding entrepreneurs by offering mentoring, technology support, infrastructure and funding among others. The 10,000 square feet IMAGE-CoE, located inside the existing STPI facility, plans to incubate up to 25-30 start-ups per year for the next 5 years. A total investment of Rs 19.68 crore would be spent over a period of 5 years for the CoE in addition to existing infrastructure in the STPI facility. Read More
