Intel unveils 11th Gen H series processors for gaming laptops: Details here

  Expanding its 11th Gen mobile processor line-up, American chipmaker Intel on Tuesday announced the 11th Gen H-series mobile processors for gaming laptops. According to the company, the new mobile processors are also aimed at content creation and mobile workstations. One of the major differences between the existing 11th Gen Intel Core processors (Tiger Lake U) and the newly unveiled ones (Tiger Lake H) is in the integrated graphic processing unit. The new processors are paired with the less powerful UHD integrated graphics (32 execution units compared to Iris’ 96 EUs). However, Intel said that the UHD graphics in the Tiger Lake-H series chips is based on Xe architecture, but it is not branded as Xe. The thin and light notebook meets the requirements of the Intel Evo platform for advanced computing and specifications, enabling exceptional responsiveness, more efficient battery life and instant wake. Apple gets into 5G race; acquires Intel phone modem business for $1 billion

American technology company Apple has announced the acquisition of chip-maker Intel's smartphone modem business for $1 billion. Approximately 2,200 Intel employees will join Apple, along with intellectual property, equipment and leases, the Cupertino-based iPhone maker said in a statement late Thursday. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2019. "This agreement enables us to focus on developing technology for the 5G network while retaining critical intellectual property and modem technology that our team has created," said Intel CEO Bob Swan.
