MI has made some strategic changes to its IPL 2020 squad by bringing in Australian Chris Lynn at the top of the batting order. With Hardik Pandya facing intermittent fitness issues, Australian bowling all-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile should prove handy for Mumbai. In IPL 2020, the Rohit Sharma-led side will play its only afternoon match (4 pm start) at home against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 5. Read More

IPL 2020 auction: Top five all-rounders who could trigger a bidding war

Image
All-rounders have always sold like hotcakes when it comes to Indian Premier League Auctions . The T20 format paves way for those who 'multi-task' to be more in demand and on Thursday, when IPL 2020 auction of the lucrative franchise league auction takes place here, it won't be any different. Glenn Maxwell, Australia cricket team Maxwell is returning from a break due to mental-health reasons and although he does not have great numbers to show for in the tournament -- 1397 runs at 22.90 in 69 matches -- his game changing ability is expected to pull franchises. Maxwell is handy with his off-breaks too and is a brilliant fielder. Chris Morris, South Africa cricket team Morris was released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the auction this year due to his low-key performances in 2019. But the South African bowling all-rounder who made a name from the IPL is always an asset when it comes to death bowling. He also has ability to take wickets regularly and although he is inj

Indian Premier League (IPL) defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have released 12 of their players from last season ahead of IPL 2020 players’ auction, to be held in Kolkata on Dec 19. They have retained 18 players. The Mumbai franchise retained their core team, including veteran Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga, despite his fitness issues. Among the 12 released players, Evin Lewis, Jason Behrendoff and Alzarri Joseph were the most prominent ones as they made some match-winning contributions last season. Lewis had given a flying start to the team during the powerplay in several matches, while Behrendoff had taken 6 wickets against Rajasthan Royals in a low-scoring game to provide his team a crucial win last season. Yuvraj Singh, who retired from all forms of cricket, including IPL, earlier this year, has also been released by MI. New Zealand pacer Trent Boult, West Indian Sherfance Rutherford and Mumbai pacer Dhawal Kulkarni were traded in by the franchise, owned by

IPL 2019 Qualifier 1 MI vs CSK: Mumbai face super challenge at Chepauk

Image
In qualifier 1 of VIVO Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019), MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will host Mumbai Indians (MI) at the M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the last league match on Sunday and climbed the top of IPL 2019 Points Table. Mumbai's path to playoffs was filled with ups and downs but the team showed class in crucial matches to saal a plaoff berth. Super Kings have been a consistent and dominant force throughout the IPL 2019 and the side did not experiment much in the playing 11. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, may go with an extra spinner in their playing 11, given the slow nature of Chepauk wicket. The winner of the clash will get a ticket for the finals while the loser will get another chance -- Qualifier 2 -- to reach the finals. Chennai would look to take home advantage but trapping Mumbai would not be an easy task as the visitors have variation in batting and bowl

IPL 2019 MI vs RCB Preview: After 1st win, can Kohli's RCB rattle Mumbai?

Image
In match 32 of the VIVO Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019), Mumbai Indians (MI) will host Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. Virat Kohli's RCB registered their first victory in IPL 2019 by defeating Kings XI Punjab on Saturday and they'd be high on confidence with first points on the IPL 2019 points table. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians lost their last match against Rajasthan Royals despite scoring 187 runs as Jos Buttler's quickfire 89 overshadowed their efforts. As usual, It will rain runs in Wankhede so both the teams will have to pick bowlers in their playing 11 very carefully because wickets are the only key. RCB is tight on bowlers as they usually keep just enough bowlers to complete the 20-over per side quota, hence, they'd have to bring in some variation to tackle the formidable batting line-up of Mumbai Indians in which a tail-ender can also hit a six or two. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is back

IPL 2019, MI vs KXIP preview: Mumbai Indians need Rohit, de Kock to fire

In Match 24 of VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL 2019), Mumbai Indians will host Kings XI Punjab at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday. KXIP come to the match with three consecutive wins in their home ground, while Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous encounter. Mumbai Indians’ pacer Joseph Alazzari took six for 12--the best bowling figure in IPL history. Rohit Sharma will look to lead by example at the top of the batting order along with Quinton de Kock after failing to put on a quality show so far. While KXIP are placed at the third spot in IPL points table 2019 with four wins from six games, MI are fifth with three wins from five games. With the league closing in on the middle stage, each team will now look to grab the advantage and surge forward. The main concern for Mumbai Indians are form of their batters at the top as they don’t have anyone in the top-20 run-scorers' list in IPL 2019. However, they have a superior fast bowling attack bols

Last seven months were toughest, now my focus is on IPL, World Cup: Pandya

Image
India and Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya termed the last seven months as the toughest period of his life when he "did not know what to do" in the wake of the controversy surrounding his outrage-evoking comments on women. Pandya, who helped MI beat Chennai Super Kings in an IPL game in Mumbai, was initially suspended by the BCCI and sent back to India from the Australia tour following his comments on a chat show earlier this year. Later, the suspension was provisionally lifted pending an inquiry. The 25-year-old said he has left behind the controversy. "It feels pretty good to help the team to win and contribute. It's been seven months that I've hardly played games. They weren't easy and I didn't know what to do. I've just batted and batted. I want to improve my game every day. It's a fantastic feeling batting like that and making your team win," he said. Pandya, who smashed an 8-ball 25 not out and then picked up three

Image
In Match 15 of VIVO Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019), Mumbai Indians will look to stop the winning spree of Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday. However, CSK will go into the match as favourites after winning their first three IPL 2019 matches. They are placed at the top of 2019 IPL points table with six points while Mumbai Indians are placed seventh with one victory and two defeats. Mumbai Indians team management would look to make some changes in their playing 11 by bringing in Ishan Kishan in place of out of form Suryakumar Yadav. The hosts will have the option of fielding new recruit, West Indian fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, or all-rounder Ben Cutting in place of the off-boil Lasith Malinga. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings, might bring back Harbhajan Singh in CSK playing 11 replacing Mitchell Santner. Mumbai Indians lost their IPL 2019 opening fixture against Delhi Capitals as Rishabh Pant hammered MI bowlers all over the park including

IPL 2019, RCB vs MI preview: Virat Kohli will look to forget CSK drubbing

Image
In the Match 7 of VIVO Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019), Mumbai Indians (MI) would fancy their chances against an erratic Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) when the two star-studded teams square off at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday. Virat Kohli's RCB, who are yet to win IPL title and regularly draw a lot of flak for that, were bundled out for 70, the sixth-lowest score in IPL history, in their first game of IPL 2019 against Chennai Super Kings. The injury of Jasprit Bumrah has given the sleepless night to India and Mumbai Indians a sleepless night after he injured his shoulder during the last ball of the Delhi Capitals innings. However, according to various media reports, he is fit as it was just a case of shoulder spasm. But it would be interesting to see whether Mumbai Indians team management will pick him in their playing 11 or give him more time to become match fit. Lasith Malinga is likely to be available for the next two Mumbai Indians IPL matc
