Apple may postpone iPhone 12 launch to November due to coronavirus pandemic

American technology giant Apple is likely to push its September ‘ iPhone 12 ’ launch to November due to coronavirus pandemic, which has hit the logistics, supply chain and manufacturing globally. According to a report by an investment banking company Cowen, Apple's second-quarter production is expected to be 35 million units, down 5 per cent from the first quarter and down 13 per cent from the same period last year. The analyst said that the production supply chain has returned to normal output rates, but downstream demand remains uncertain. It predicts that Apple's iPhone shipments in the second quarter will reach 30 million. Jon Prosser, a reliable Apple insider, earlier said that the company is currently mulling the situation, and considering to push the 2020 smartphone launch in October to cut short a gap between the event and handsets reaching store shelves. Covid-19: After economic fallout, Apple, Xiaomi show some recovery in China

Apple Inc shipped roughly 2.5 million iPhones to China in March, a slight rebound after one of its worst months in the country ever, according to government data published on Friday. Smartphone companies are hoping for a strong recovery in demand in China, where the deadly coronavirus is now subsiding, just as it spreads across the world and looks set to trigger a global recession. Mobile phone shipments in China in March totalled 21 million units, according to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), a government think-tank. American technology giant Apple Inc is working on the next iteration of its iPhone smartphones, which are expected to be unveiled sometime in September this year. Speculated to be named iPhone 11, the upcoming series of smartphones could have at least three different models – according to technology news portal 9to5mac. Codenamed the N104, D42 and D43, the upcoming iPhones are reported to be successor to the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, respectively. The N104, which is expected to be the most affordable iPhone in the upcoming series, is said to feature an LCD screen of the same screen resolution as predecessor iPhone XR. The D42 and D43 would be successors to the premium iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, respectively, and they are reported to boast OLED screens of the same resolution as their predecessors.
