Drive in Navi Mumbai to vaccinate potential Covid-19 super-spreaders

  The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, which recently undertook a drive to vaccinate homeless persons and beggars against COVID-19 , has now started a campaign to inoculate potential super-spreaders in the township, a civic official said on Monday. In the first phase of the new campaign, 250 employees of various medical stores in Navi Mumbai were administered vaccine doses at a special camp organised on Sunday, civic spokesperson Mahendra Konde told PTI. He said those working at medical stores come in contact with a large number of people, including sick persons, frequently. Hence, the NMMC undertook the special drive to protect them from the coronavirus infection, he said. In the first round, 169 men and 81 women working at medical stores in Sanpada area of Navi Mumbai were covered, the official said. Maharashtra: Kalyan, Navi Mumbai have over 3,000 active Covid-19 cases

  The civic limits of Kalyan and Navi Mumbai have over 3,000 active cases of coronavirus , while Thane city is nearing 2,000 active cases, district authorities said on Friday. According to an official report, with an addition of 1,172 new cases on Thursday, the COVID-19 tally in Thane district has now reached 1,18,911. Moreover, 37 latest casualties in the district, including 10 from Kalyan alone, have raised the toll to 3,423, the report stated. Most COVID-19 cases have been reported from Kalyan, Thane and Navi Mumbai areas that have so far recorded 27,684, 25,076 and 24,585 cases respectively, an official said. The recovery rate in the district stood at 86.75 per cent, while the mortality was at 2.88 per cent, he said. Read More

Cidco sells 7 Navi Mumbai plots at double the reserve price, nets Rs 386 cr

At a time when the real estate sector is passing through difficult times, Cidco has managed to garner Rs 386 crore from selling 10 plots in Navi Mumbai within a few days. The City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco), which is the planning body for Navi Mumbai, had put on block 10 plots across Airoli, Vashi, Kharghar and New Panvel (West) for residential and commercial development. On December 6, the authority sold its five plots-- three in Airoli and two in Vashi -- for Rs 229 crore, which is almost four times higher than the reserve price. The authority on Tuesday netted another Rs 157 crore from the remaining five plots, which was more than double the base price. It may be noted that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, which too is sitting on a huge land bank in the plush BKC area, has not been able to sell its plots since the past many years due to poor market. CM Devendra Fadnavis flags off trial run of Navi Mumbai Metro Line one

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday flagged off the trial run of the first Belapur to Pendhar Metro rail project in Navi Mumbai. Out of the four lines proposed for Navi Mumbai Metro, Line one will have a total of 11 stations on the 11.10 km corridor being constructed at the cost of Rs 3,063 crore. "Navi Mumbai Metro will make commute easy for inhabitants residing at Kharghar, Taloja and Pendhar. At present, the travel time to reach Taloja from Belapur is 45 minutes. "Once the metro becomes operational, this will reduce to 18 minutes, which will be a great relief for Navi Mumbaikars using the route," CIDCO said in a statement issued here. At the event, Fadnavis also distributed allotment letters to 10,000 successful candidates from CIDCO Housing Scheme-2018. 4 killed in fire at ONGC plant in Navi Mumbai; rescue operation underway

Four people were killed and three others injured after a fire broke out at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation 's (ONGC) plant in Navi Mumbai township of Maharashtra on Tuesday, police said. The ONGC said there was no impact on oil processing and that the gas was diverted to its Hazira plant in Surat district of Gujarat. The blaze erupted around 7 am in a processing plant of the ONGC located in Uran area of neighbouring Navi Mumbai, the police said. "Four people have been killed and three others injured in the mishap," a senior police official said. "Fire broke out in storm water drainage in Uran Plant early morning successfully doused within two hours by fire fighting team. #ONGCs robust crisis mitigation preparedness helped put off this major fire in a very short time," the ONGC said in a tweet. Pune gets first spot in Ease of Living Index, Delhi ranked at 65th

Chennai has been ranked 14 and New Delhi 65 Current Affairs News : Pune has been ranked first in the Ease of Living Index launched by Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Monday, with Navi Mumbai coming in second and Delhi languishing at 65. According to the ministry, Greater Mumbai has been ranked three, followed by Triputi, Chandigarh, Thane, Raipur, Indore, Vijayawada and Bhopal. The survey was conducted in 111 cities in the country. Puri said the Ease of Living Index has been based on four parameters -- governance, social institutions, economic and physical infrastructure. Chennai has been ranked 14 and New Delhi 65. The housing and urban affairs minister said Kolkata refused to participate in the survey.
