India records 18,346 fresh Covid-19 infections, lowest in over 6 months

  India recorded 18,346 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, the lowest in over 6 months, the Union Health Ministry informed on Tuesday. With this, the active caseload of the country stands at 2,52,902; accounting for less than 1 per cent of the total cases. As per the ministry, the recovery rate of India is at its highest since March 2020 and currently stands at 97.93 per cent. As many as 29,639 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 3,31,50,886. A total number of 57,53,94,042 tests have been conducted so far. Read More

India records 20,799 fresh Covid-19 cases, active caseload drops to 264,458

  India reported 20,799 new COVID-19 infections and 180 deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday. India's active caseload stands at 2,64,458 which is the lowest in the last 200 days. The active cases account for less than 1 per cent of total cases, currently at 0.78 per cent, the lowest since March 2020. The recovery rate presently stands at 97.89 per cent, the highest since March 2020. With 180 deaths, the cumulative death toll has mounted to 4,48,997. According to the health ministry, the recovery of 26,718 patients in the last 24 hours has taken the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,31,21,247. The country reported a weekly positivity rate of 1.63 per cent which is less than 3 per cent for the last 101 days.   India on Monday recorded 39,361 cases of Covid-19 and 416 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data showed. The country now has 4,11,189 active cases and has witnessed a total of 4,20,967 deaths so far. According to the government, a total of 35,968 people were discharged from hospitals and health centres in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cured to 3,05,79,106 till date as the virus continued to infect less than one lakh people over the last 48 days. According to the health ministry data, a total of 43,51,96,001 Covid vaccine doses have been administered in India so far, including 18,99,874 in the last 24 hours. Over 32 mn vaccine doses available with states, UTs, pvt hospitals: Centre

  More than 3.20 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses are currently available with states, union territories and private hospitals for inoculation, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday. States and union territories have so far received a total of 43,79,78,900 vaccine doses through all channels and a further 7,00,000 doses are in the pipeline, it said. The total consumption, including wastage, so far is 40,59,77,410 doses, the ministry said, citing data available at 8 AM on Thursday. More than 3.20 crore -- 3,20,01,490 -- balance and unutilised doses are still available with states, UTs and private hospitals to be administered, the ministry said. India logs 30,093 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours; lowest in 125 days

  India recorded 30,093 new coronavirus infections , the lowest in 125 days, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,11,74,322, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. The death toll climbed to 4,14,482 with 374 daily fatalities, the lowest in 111 days, while the active cases have declined to 4,06,130, the lowest in 117 days. The active caseload comprises 1.30 per cent of the total infections and the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 97.37 per cent, the data updated at 8 am showed. A decrease of 15,535 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. As many as 17,92,336 tests were conducted on Monday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 44,73,41,133. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.68 per cent. It has been less than three per cent for 29 consecutive days, the ministry said, adding the weekly positivity rate has declined to 2.06 per cent.

Over 411 mn Covid-19 vaccine doses provided to States, UTs so far: Centre

  The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday said that States and Union Territories have received more than 41.10 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses through all sources and over 52 lakh doses are in the pipeline. "More than 41.10 crores (41,10,38,530) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far, through all sources and a further 52,90,640 doses are in the pipeline," the ministry said. Of this, the total consumption including wastages is 38,58,75,958 doses as per data available at 8 am today. The ministry further said that 2,51,62,572 balance and unutilized COVID vaccine doses are still available with the states, UTs and private hospitals to be administered.   India recorded 45,892 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours and 817 deaths, said the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Thursday. Thursday is the 30th consecutive day when India reported less than one lakh new coronavirus cases. The active cases have now come down below 5 lakh. The country has 4,60,704 active cases presently and has witnessed a total of 4,05,028 deaths so far. According to the Union Health Ministry, a total of 44,291 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 2,98,43,825 till date. The Ministry said that a total of 36,48,47,549 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 33,81,671 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.   India reported 34,703 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 111 days, informed the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday. With this, India's active caseload of COVID cases has declined to 4,64,357, which is the lowest in 101 days. The active cases constitute 1.52 percent of the total cases. Total recoveries touched 2,97,52,294, including 51,864 patients who recovered during the last 24 hours. As per the ministry, the daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for the 54th consecutive day. With this, the recovery rate has increased to 97.17 percent. Also, the weekly positivity rate remained below 5 percent and is currently at 2.40 percent. Further, the daily positivity rate is at 2.11 percent, less than 3 percent for 15 consecutive days. Over 4.8 mn vaccine doses to be delivered to states, UTs in 3 days: Govt

  More than 75 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine are available with states and union territories and they will receive over48 lakh more within the next three days, the Union health ministry said on Tuesday. The government of India has so far provided 16,69,97,410 vaccine doses to the states and UTs free of cost. Of this, the total consumption, including wastage, is 15,94,75,507, according to ministry data updated at 8 am. "More than 75 lakh (75,24,903) COVID vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered. "Furthermore, more than 48 lakh (48,41,670) vaccine doses will be received in addition by the states and UTs within the next three days," the ministry said. 10 states account for 69.1% of new Covid-19 cases: Health Ministry

  Ten states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, reported 69.1 per cent of the new COVID-19 cases registered in a day, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday. With 3,23,144 people testing positive for the coronavirus infection in a day, the country's total tally of cases has climbed to 1,76,36,307, it said. Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan are also among the 10 states that reported 69.1 per cent of the new cases. "Cumulatively, more than 28 crore tests have conducted so far, while the cumulative positivity rate is 6.28 per cent," the ministry said. Second Covid-19 wave: ASI monuments closed for visitors till May 15

  All centrally protected monuments, museums and sites under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) have been closed with immediate effect till May 15 due to the surge in coronavirus cases in the country, the Union culture ministry said on Thursday. An order to this effect was issued by the ASI and it was tweeted by Culture Minister Prahlad Patel this evening. "Due to the prevailing COVID situation, it has been decided to close all centrally protected monuments, sites and museums under the ASI with immediate effect and till May 15 or until further orders," the ASI said. These include 3,693 monuments and 50 museums. In live monuments like Puri Jagannath Temple and Somnath Temple, daily 'puja' will be conducted but no public gathering will be allowed, said Nitin Tripathi, the ministry's media advisor. Read More

India reports highest single-day spike of 103,558 coronavirus cases

  India recorded an all-time high of 1,03,558coronavirus infections in a day pushing the nationwide COVID-19 tally to1,25,89,067, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday. The single-day rise in cases surpassed the earlier peak of 97,894 infections reported on September 17, last year, making it the highest since the pandemic began in India, while the death toll increased to1,65,101 with 478 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed. 86.25% new Covid-19 cases in six states including Punjab: Health Ministry

  Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are the six states that cumulatively account for 86.25 per cent of the new coronavirus cases reported in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry said on Monday. Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 11,141, followed by Kerala with 2,100 and Punjab with 1,043 new infections, the ministry said. The Centre is regularly holding high-level review meetings with the states and Union territories showing a surge in new daily cases and the health secretary is also holding weekly review meetings, it said. 82 people have tested positive for new variant of Covid in India: Govt

  The number of people who have tested positive for the new UK variant of SARS-CoV-2 has climbed to 82 in India, the health ministry said on Friday. The number of such people stood at 73 till January 6, it added. "The total number of cases infected with the new strain of the novel coronavirus, first reported in the UK, now stands at 82," the ministry said. All the people who have tested positive for the new variant of the virus were kept in single-room isolation at designated healthcare facilities by the respective state governments, the ministry had earlier said. Their close contacts have also been put under quarantine. Covid-19 vaccine mock drill in 21 Chhattisgarh districts on Jan 7, 8

  A dry run to assess the readiness for the COVID-19 vaccination drive will be held in 21 districts of Chhattisgarh over the next two days, a senior state health official said on Wednesday. Last week, a similar mock drill was held in Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur and six other districts out of the total 28 districts in the state. Now, it will be held in the remaining 21 districts for the assessment of preparation for the imminent coronavirus vaccination drive, mission director for National Health Mission in Chhattisgarh, Priyanka Shukla, told PTI. No one can be forced to take Covid-19 vaccine, govt will educate: Vardhan

  The coronavirus vaccine cannot be forced upon anyone but the government will educate and give the right information to people about it, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Sunday. "Vaccine hesitancy issues will be addressed through education. The government will spread awareness and educate people about the vaccine that this is for their own good and benefit," Harsh Vardhan said in an interview with ANI.   Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Sunday said that the worst is over concerning coronavirus in the country but people still need to follow Covid appropriate behaviour to stay safe. "At a personal level, I think that the worst is over concerning the Covid-19 situation. I have been following this situation right from the time when we had our first case on January 30, 2020. Since then, I have watched everything from the closest of quarters with meticulous precision. If we look at the things in the last three-four months then things are in a declining phase," Dr Vardhan told ANI in an exclusive interview. "But we need to strictly follow Covid appropriate behaviour and cannot afford to relax on that front," he added.
