  OnePlus is set to launch today, June 10, the OnePlus Nord CE (Core Edition) smartphone and the OnePlus U1S LED TV at its ‘Summer Launch event’. The CE model is touted to bring the core features, along with some other upgrades, of the original OnePlus Nord (review) at a price point accessible to even more consumers. 11, including 8 children, killed, 7 injured in Mumbai building collapse

  Eight children and three adults were killed and seven other people injured after two floors of a three-storey building collapsed on an adjoining single-storey house in Malwani area of Mumbai, officials said on Thursday. The incident took place around 11.15 pm on Wednesday at the New Collector Compound on Abdul Hamid Road in the Malwani area, they said. While earlier civic officials said a single-storey house had collapsed, they later said it was a three-storey building. According to police, the building was constructed illegally and after the incident, its contractor was being questioned. The second and third floors of the three-storey building collapsed on the adjoining single-storey house, said Santosh Dhonde, acting ward officer of the city's P-North ward. Fire brigade and other agencies immediately rushed to the spot and started a search and rescue operation, the official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. Read More

LG Electronics unveils mobile app 'Soft V2X' for pedestrian safety

  LG Electronics on Thursday unveiled a mobile application for pedestrian safety as the South Korean tech giant eyes to beef up its presence in the software sector despite its planned departure from the smartphone business. The Soft V2X, with V2X standing for "vehicle to everything," is LG's smartphone solution for pedestrian protection. The app can warn users of collision risks between pedestrians and vehicles, as well as possible car-to-car crashes, to prevent road accidents. The app can analyse data of the user's location, moving direction and speed on the cloud system in real time. It alerts users with sound, vibration and warning messages when there is a collision risk. LG said its pedestrian safety solution is compatible with the country's Cooperative-Intelligent Transportation System (C-ITS) in order to receive information on road traffic and driving conditions, reports Yonhap news agency. Mumbai receives heavy rainfall as monsoon advances over Maharashtra

  Heavy rainfall lashed Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra on Wednesday with the advance of the monsoon in the state. The city has been receiving rainfall since Tuesday night. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded rainfall in Santacruz at 50.4 mm and in Colaba at 65.4 mm. "Monsoon has arrived in Mumbai today, normal arrival date is June 10 every year so it has arrived prior to the average arrival date," said Dr Jayanta Sarkar, Deputy Director General (DDG), IMD Mumbai. The IMD in a tweet said that the southwest monsoon is likely to advance into more parts of Maharashtra and is likely to advance into more parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, some parts of Odisha, and more parts of West Bengal during the next two days.   The south-west monsoon arrived in Mumbai and its neighbouring areas on Wednesday, the IMD announced as heavy rains lashed the country's financial capital and suburbs since early morning. Local train services from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji MaharajTerminus (CSMT) to neighbouring Thane and Vashi in Navi Mumbai were suspended due to water-logging on some railway tracks, officials said. Routes of some BEST buses run the city civic body's transport wing were also diverted, they said. A high tide of over four metres is expected around noon in the Arabian Sea, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
